Therapy

My life felt out of control as if I was staring over a precipice. In the year we worked together, David seemed to take my hand and led me to a place that felt much more bearable. I’m not sure where I’d be if we hadn’t done this work together.

Why Therapy?

You may need help with reducing your anxiety, anger, low mood, depression, addiction, sexuality issues, bereavement, relationship difficulties, a sense of meaninglessness or low self-esteem? This is not a definitive list. I will work with you whatever you most need help with.

I’m trained to work with couples and individuals.

Using psychodynamic, C.B.T. (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), transpersonal and humanistic therapeutic approaches, I help you develop self-awareness, have more control over your life, improve your relationships and gain relief from emotional pain.

I had a positive experience of being in psychotherapy myself after the painful loss of a partner. This overwhelming time inspired me to train as a therapist and offer this life-changing opportunity to others.

My private practice is in Kent and London. I work with clients in the UK around the world via FaceTime, Whatsapp Video or Skype.

Frequency

Sessions are 50 minutes and are usually held at the same time and place each week.

Our first meeting - the assessment - will give you a sense of working together will be like. It will also give us the chance to help you find the right therapy for you. We will then agree a contract including the number of sessions and payment details - this can be revised and adapted as our work together develops.

I bring all of my academic, clinical and rich life experience into the work that we’ll do together.

Therapy is a unique healing relationship that is profoundly important as it offers us the chance to manage our lives in healthier and more meaningful ways.

Qualifications and Experience

My Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is BACP approved. I graduated in 2009.

I’m currently giving free therapy to NHS and frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic via Frontline-19. I have been an Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

My Masters Degree from Queen Mary College, London University was awarded with Distinction. I am a Faculty member of The School of Life since 2010 where I lead training in Effectiveness, Calmness, Adaptability, Resilience and other emotional skills.

I have over 12 years experience as a therapist working in a range of settings. As a bereavement counsellor and in the NHS as a member of the Counselling and Psychotherapy team at Kings College Hospital. My continuous professional development (CPD) has recently been focusing on CBT for depression, addiction and working with couples. I trained in couples therapy at the Tavistock Clinic.

My rich life experience including living in the States for several years informs my work.

David has a unique gift - the ability to put a room full of people at ease and make every one of them feel as though he is talking and listening to them intently.
